Three Age-Appropriate Surf Camp Programs

Ages 4–6
Keiki Camp
Our youngest surfers, mostly at gentle Paradise Cove.
Ages 7–10
Kahuna Camp
The middle set, surfing and playing at Zuma Beach.
Ages 11–14
Nalu Camp
Our oldest kids and teens, surfing and ocean adventure at Zuma.
Safe, Fun Surfing in Malibu
All three programs offer 200+ safe, fun beach activities, including surfing lessons at world-famous Zuma and Paradise Cove. Our staff is in the ocean with your child at all times — holding the board, guiding, and instructing every step of the way.
We chose Malibu because local lifeguards call it one of the best places for kids to learn: gentle surf, clean water, a soft sandy bottom, and consistent waves. And as part of the Billabong Surf Camp network, campers get quality instruction with a dynamic curriculum and a safety-first attitude.
How Often Do Kids Go Surfing?
Every day we're at the beach — generally Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, plus select Thursdays when we're not on a field trip. Surfing is one of the biggest parts of our program across all three age groups, with multiple chances each day for one-on-one lessons from our surf instructors.
It's Not Just Surfing
Surfing happens every beach day, but it's just one part of the program. Campers also enjoy boogie boarding, swimming, body surfing, skim boarding, and more — plus jet skiing at Castaic Lake every Wednesday all summer.
On select Thursdays, campers visit Channel Islands Harbor or Oxnard Beach Park for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and park games like capture the flag and water rockets. Older campers (7+) kayak and paddle board; younger campers (6 and under) enjoy safe boat rides with their counselors. Free transportation is included on field trip days too.

Families come from all over L.A. — and we don't expect you to drive to camp. Free transportation on seat-belted buses and vans is included from your area, with camp staff riding along to keep the trip safe and fun. Just choose the stop closest to home or work on your registration form.
